Swallowing Disorders (Dysphagia)

Trouble Swallowing? It May Be a Treatable Condition

Difficulty swallowing, known as dysphagia, can affect your ability to eat, drink, and even speak comfortably. At ENT Sinus Center of Orlando, we diagnose and treat swallowing disorders to restore comfort, safety, and quality of life.

  • Swallowing disorders occur when there’s a problem moving food or liquids safely from the mouth to the stomach. This can happen at any stage of the swallowing process and may be due to structural, muscular, or neurological issues.

Mild swallowing difficulties may cause discomfort, but more serious cases can lead to choking, aspiration pneumonia, weight loss, and malnutrition.

  • ● Feeling like food is stuck in the throat or chest● Pain when swallowing● Coughing or choking while eating or drinking● Hoarseness or gurgling voice after swallowing● Drooling or inability to manage saliva● Heartburn or regurgitation● Unexplained weight loss or dehydration

Our team builds a customized plan focused on restoring safe and comfortable swallowing.

  • You should seek evaluation if:● Swallowing difficulty lasts more than a few days● You have repeated episodes of choking or coughing while eating● Weight loss, dehydration, or chest infections occur● You feel anxious or fearful about eating
